Century Jet Models has produced a 1/5th scale Spitfire Kit MK 22-24 aircraft with the modeler in mind--starting with a light weight, two piece epoxy fiberglass fuselage encompassing panel lines to a plane that penetrates the sky with grace, beauty, and at scale speeds. A Scale Master aircraft.
The fuselage is constructed using layers of 4 & 6 ounce to provide added strength and vibration resistance for larger engines. The fiberglass vertical stab and foam horizontal stabs further reduces weight and building time. A fuselage access hatch provides easy access to the fuel tank, retract fill port, and other accessories. To top off the superb fiberglass quality, all fiberglass parts come pre-primed.
The elliptically cut three piece foam wing is feather edged cut. After you sheet the wing with 3/32" balsa, two 1/4" AC ply spars are inserted into the foam one of which interlocks with the landing gear block. Result...a super light-weight, super strong wing. Our 1/5th landing gear with stainless steel oleo struts are inserted into a specially designed landing gear block to provide scale location and movement.
Three kit versions of the Spitfire kit are available: The basic kit comes with a primed epoxy fiberglass fuselage, fiberglass vertical and horizontal stabilator, pre-molded accessory hatch, elliptical foam wings, canopy, detailed instructions and full size plans, metal tiller arm, 3-view drawings, and spinner. The deluxe kit comes with the above items plus a basic cockpit, metal tiller arm, laser plywood package, wood package, accessory package, pull-pull cables, bolts, nuts, snap-on door mounting brackets plus much more. The deluxe kit with retracts are available with tail wheel. Other options such as scale, non-flying 5 bladed fiberglass prop and fiberglass spinner are available.
